Questions – agriculture

What is the correct position in rotation and sowing agricultural practice?

In general forage grasses do not have special requirements when it comes to the position in the rotation cycle. They may be sowed from early spring to mid September which makes it possible to use them in various positions. It is best if they follow root crops cultivated on manure which are at the same time the best crop to cultivate before spring cereals. Thus in practice it is most common use grass seeding into spring cereals, but other cereals cultivated for grain and winter rape are also good cover crops for them.

Grasses should be seeded using a cereal seeder with 10-15 cm spacing to a depth of 1-2 cm. Seeding grasses into spring cereals should be done perpendicular to cereal rows, at the same time but using two passes.

Forage grasses should not be seeded on wildrye fields.
